Taylor Swift gets $1M UK security after mom threatens concert cancelation.
When Taylor Swift played in London in August, the Met Police spent $1 million on her protection.
A new report claims Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour gigs in London were a hit with fans but a nightmare for police and administration.According to Marca, the Metropolitan Police spent over $1 million on security for the singer and her shows following threats. Her team’s refusal to compromise made things harder.
$1 million spent on Taylor Swift’s security
Taylor Swift performed in the UK as part of her The Eras Tour first in June and then again in August. Marca reported that the cost of her security was $85,000 per night in June but increased to $125,000 per night when she returned. After bomb plots at Taylor’s Vienna concerts, her safety was a major issue.
The report says that Swift’s team, led by her mother and manager, Andrea Swift, demanded a blue-light police escort, complete with specialized outsiders.
The threat of cancellation
It was expensive for the London police, and the concerts could be canceled. “Andrea played hardball. She spoke directly with government authorities to get the Met to change its regulations “A source said she threatened to cancel the concerts. The police bowed because a cancellation may have hurt the local economy and disappointed supporters.
Taylor’s detractors now say she should reimburse the London Metropolitan Police for her safety. Last year, Harry Styles won hearts by repaying $70,000 of the $275,000 spent on Wembley performance security.
