New Delhi:

US Vice President Kamala Harris conceded the presidential election to Trump, but vowed not to concede “the fight that fueled this campaign.”

In a brief speech, Harris conceded the election but vowed to continue the fight for freedom, opportunity, and dignity for all.

Harris’ supporters cheered as she acknowledged the pain of losing, urging them to “keep fighting” for their cause.

She closed with a hopeful message: “Only when it is dark enough, can you see the stars,” encouraging light through truth, optimism, and service.

Harris reassured supporters, saying, “The outcome is not what we wanted, but America’s promise will always burn bright as long as we keep fighting.”

She also stated, “We must accept the results of this election,” confirming she had congratulated President-elect Trump on his victory.

Harris emphasized, “I told him we will help with the transition and engage in a peaceful transfer of power.”

Trump’s victory was remarkable, despite a criminal conviction, a near-assassination attempt, and warnings from a former chief of staff.

Trump never conceded defeat four years ago after the Capitol attack and returned to the White House with larger margins.

At 78, Trump will be the oldest president. Had Harris won, she’d have been the first female president.

Global leaders pledged to work with Trump, despite concerns over his “America First” approach, especially from Ukraine, invaded by Russia in 2022.

PM Modi was among the first to congratulate Trump, expressing excitement to strengthen India-US relations across multiple sectors, including technology and defense.

Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance criticized U.S. aid to Ukraine, with aides suggesting Ukraine might need to make concessions to end the war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Trump and said he hoped the new US leader would help Ukraine find a “just peace.”
